How To Tape ITBFS Runners Knee

A short instructional video of how to apply K-Tape to treat Ilio Tibial Band Friction Syndrome (ITBFS, or Runner's Knee).  ITBFS is an overuse injury, and a common cause of lateral knee pain.  This taping technique can also be used to control internal rotation of the thigh to treat lateral thigh pain, lateral hip pain, bursitis, or glute medius tendinopathy.

 

 

How To Tape ITB:

  1. Measure the required length against the leg
  2. Round the corners to prevent them lifting off
  3. Gutter the tape towards itself to catch the leading edge
  4. Apply an inch at each end with no stretch
  5. Apply tape with 50% stretch
  6. Second strip across sore spot with 70% stretch

  • Ilio-tibial band (ITB) pain
  • Lateral knee pain
  • Runner's knee
